First, I have to thank the great LORD above for everything that has happened for me. He set all of this up for me.

I had my DS surgery in July 2002 with Dr John Husted. At that time I weighed 383 pounds. At the time I had my DS I didn't think of what would be down the road with any skin issues. I remember Dr Husted saying you will have to pick up skin and put it in your clothes. But, that was not important at that time. It was about staying alive and being healthy. But, sure enough after loosing 214 pounds I realized that I didn't look like I had lost weight. My clothes were not fitting right and I felt I was still a very fat person. Also, what really made me look at having the skin removed was after a trip to the beach. People stared at my skin. Before when I went to the beach, before the DS, they knew I was just fat. Now I was a freak.

This is when my thoughts went to having reconstructive surgery. I had ran into Wanda Johnson and she had shared with me she was going to Brazil to have the reconstructive surgery done and told me about a yahoo group I could join and follow other patients and ask questions. I became consumed with this group and was amazed at what all was being done. This was in May of 2004. In Sept of 2004 I flew to a convention in Las Vegas to see Dr Fabio and get a consult. Just the month before I had reconstructive consults in TN by 2 of the best plastic surgeons in Nashville. One said they would have to do two abdominal surgeries and he didn't know what he would do with the rest of me. The other plastic surgeon said I don't know if I would cut you up or down or across in the ab area. I thought man is this all they have to offer here. I don't think they know what to do.

So, why not go to the convention. I got a 99.00 plane ticket out of Nashville and headed out. Boy was I going to meet the best plastic surgeon in the world, Dr Fabio. After hearing his talk, I was 60% going to Brazil. But, I have to tell you after he gave me my consult, I knew right then and there GOD was sending me to Brazil. So, 4 weeks later I was on a plane to Brazil. What a journey. I had two rounds of surgery Oct 18 and Nov 2, 2004. I went back in March 2007 and finished up. I never dreamed of being the person I am in and out.

But, all said, Dr Fabio is a caring, loving, passionate artist. I think it takes this to do this kind of surgery. Not just any plastic surgeon can do a weight loss patient. I would go to Dr Fabio again with no regrets. He will be my friend for life. Dr Fabio I wish you a long and healthy life.
